The surgery was about 10 years ago, so I’m sure it was all in a day’s work for the medical staff. For the patient, it’s much more memorable. :) I did end up staying awake for the whole thing. I had bunches of shots around my nose so I wouldn’t feel pain, and I had a mild sedative. It was all quite surreal. But I had a huge fear of going under, so it was definitely worth it for me.

Afterwards, I swelled up quite a bit, which was a little unexpected. Basically, I had a huge upper lip. Looked like someone had punched me. I do breathe a lot better now. (I had a deviated septum.)

I had to write when I read this. My husband works with Dr. Anderson at Meriter. Did you end up completing the surgery awake?? I will have to share this him. (my husband) Unless you would feel weird having it make its way back to him. (won’t have to) Small world.
